I am a walking talking BS magnet ! you know that it helps not to over analyse or dwell on things. Smoking aint gonna help & you know it.. Exercise is a good stress releiver & if all else fails just walk away from the situation. if someone pisses you off, tell them. You're going to throw away nine months of hard work for what? Some stress? Okay, so say you go ahead and smoke. How is that going to change any stress in your life? If you lost a job, is a smoke gonna get it back? If you lost a loved one, is a smoke gonna help with that? If you are depressed, are cigarettes gonna make it better. I believe you know the true answer to all of these and any others is a big fat NOPE! Look at your mug in the mirror and say as follows. "If there is trouble, You cannot defeat me, I am bigger than this! I can handle even the worst situations!" I told another friend this today, Sometimes you're the windshield, sometimes you're the bug. Sometimes we are given crap to deal with for a few months of our lives, it happens to everyone. Pick up your socks and put up with it, as it will pass too! YOU KNOW IT! Smoking is not an option, you will have to do something else. Do some deep breathing and relax! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 203 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,075 Amount Saved: $2,141.65 Life Gained: Days: 24 Hrs: 21 Mins: 9 Seconds: 43

I am unclear as to why smoking will help you cope with "stressors" in your life. Please help me to understand how smoking is going to make some of the stress go away... 2tone, You need a replacement. Often times in the beginning we just bite the bullet and chose not to smoke. After time we feel like something is missing. We lost our comfort zone. You'll feel it unless you have replaced it with a new you. Instead of smoking as an outlet you need to have a new outlet. Try jogging....powerwalking.....a new hobbie or new ritual. I know that when I got home from work it was the hardest. I took up taking a brisk walk with my dog IMMEDIATELY opon getting home from work. Maybe you could tackle a new project and replace your anxiety with something constructive. Paint the rooms of your house...build something out of wood...landscape your yard..build a patio or deck. Buy a bike...join a gym. You'll be surprised that once you get into it your brain gets a rest and you find a new you. Hope this helps You have alot of time into your quit. I bet you have made changes you don't even realize. Be proud of yourself. I haven't found one quitter on this bbs that thought it helped with stress after a relapse. I am sure after all the days you have, what you have coped with already that you have excellent coping skilss now. Keep using them, you, your health, your family is certainly worth it. Oh,m I sure find that a smoke lessens all the BS coming at me. In fact, they should call them BS reducers! NOT! 2tone, you know better than that. Smnoking will not change anything for the better & will change many things (your health, your self-respect, your bank account...) for the worse. You do have the coping strategies you need, you need to do everything you would do if you were smoking, except the smoking. That is, take some time to calm down & let your mind rest a bit, use a distraction for that. Maybe a book, movie, crossword puzzle, long walk. Breathe deeply & consider your options. If there are none & this is a situation you really can't change, then smoking won't change it either. Accept it & try to fit into your reality as best you can, a little at a time if that's what it takes. If that doesn't work, then do whatever makes you feel better. Cry, scream, swear, break something. Smoking won't really amke you feel better. Imagine how disgusting it would be after this long. Bleeecchhh!!!! You don't smoke, 2tone, non-smokers don't smoke. You are strong enough & you can do it. You've been doing it for 272 days. Take my hand & hold on. Make a fist & shake it at all the unfairness in the world. Now you can't light up. hi all! I havn't smoked in a while but I've had one hell of a stressfull summer. I have reached the end. After smoking for 30 years, I have no way to cope with the stressors that I'm dealing with. I'm starting to think that smoking again would help me once again cope with all of the BS that life is throwing at me. I've seen therapists and am on anti-depressants. Still, I want a smoke and a drink. Someone talk me down...
