I agree with Diva. Postive visualization is a wonderful technique (of course, so are the ones Casey suggested). Another thing you can do to assist in the positive visualization is write "reassuring thoughts" on cue cards. Then, you can visualize, look at the cue card, and visualize again while thinking the reassuring thought. For example: "I will get through this," "Flying is safer than driving," "Breath in....breathe out", etc.
Good luck,
Hello,
I also find that positive visualisation helps.
You just picture yourself doind it and it going very welll and you being very clam. I donèt know if it works for everybody but it helps me feel more prepared and up for things.

Hi Fridfullhet,
Welcome to the site. Thanks for sharing your introduction here with us.
Wow, going to Thailand, what a wonderful opportunity!
I will copy some standard relaxation techniques below that you may find helpful. Being prepared will help. I know you don't have a lot of time before your trip, but you may find it helpful to check out our free online program. It is designed to help you challenge your thoughts of panic and anxiety and overcome your fears.
DEEP BREATHING:
1) Take a slow deep breath in through your nose to the slow count of five. Push your tummy out at the same time.
2) Slowly breathe out through your mouth to the count of 7.
3) Repeat this 3 times, as you feel yourself relaxing and the stress dropping away.
TENSION RELEASING:
1) Let go of the tension in your neck and shoulders.
2) Let go of the tension in your jaw.
3) Focus completely on your breathing, nothing else.
4) As you exhale, let your shoulders drop and let your body sink into wherever you are.
5)Repeat this until you feel relaxed and centered.
We wish you all the best and look forward to hearing from you again soon.
Casey

Hi there,
First time for me. Found this site when i surched on Google. I had my first panic attac on sunday last week. I been to the doctor and she gave me some medicine that reduce my anxiaty. My problem is that i am going on a trip this saturday. Thailand for three weeks, so you can say my condition came rather unsuitable. My doctor think that maybe its because of the trip i feel like i do. I dont like flying, but i never felt like this before a trip. I think myself there is a lot of issues behind my anxiaty. I just feel i little frustrated that my anxiaty came before the trip. I cant relax right now. Im thinking of how i will react once im at the airport with lots of people. I got my medicine but i just want to relax and enjoy the trip. Hopefully i can relax once we are in Thailand.
If anyone have any tips on how to relax and not think about having a panic attack, please share!
