Hypnosis

Hey guys, Well, I had my session on Monday. We didn't quite get into the hypnosis fully, but she had me do an exercise. When I get anxiety, I sometimes picture myself choking/passing out in the situation and this often triggers a panic attack. With hypnosis, my therapist is trying to get me to react differently to those images. Instead of panicking when picturing myself choking/passing out, hypnosis will train me to feel relaxed. Anyway, we started doing an exercise that stimulates both the left and right side of my brain while picturing that image. Its weird wild stuff - but I think its helpful. I will be away on vacation until mid January, so I will resume sessions then and keep you guys updated. Haven't had a panic attack since, though (but I only average like two a week lately, so I can't conclude anything at this point).

Alright, I'll let you guys know. I have my next appointment with her this coming Monday. You know how we fear losing control - that's my only hesitation in doing hypnosis. However, my therapist reassured me that I will be in complete control the whole time. So I guess I have nothing to be afraid of.

Hi all, I was wondering if any of you had any thoughts on hypnosis. My therapist is trained in hypnosis and told me that this would be very helpful to help me feel relax. I've never heard of this, but I have complete faith in her and her credentials. However, all I really know about hypnosis is what I've seen on tv shows and movies - you know, where a guy makes an audience member do the chicken dance nude. Any thoughts are appreciated. Hope you are all doing well! Brad
