pulse

I hear my pulse loudly in my right ear. I can hear it whenever it is quiet. I have hyperthyroidism. I wonder if anyone on this board actually has a thyroid problem which has the same symptoms as panic disorders. Before I knew I was hyperthyroid, my symptoms were my hands were shaky, I lost alot of weight, my heartbeat was over 120 beats a minute, and I got terrible headaches. I was having a thyroid storm. Doctors seemed confused with my symptoms. They thought I had anxiety! I hope this helps someone!

Hi Everyone! I totally understand how you all are feeling. I feel this way most of the time. I realize that these symptoms are worse when my mind and body is really stressed and I'm trying to relax at night to go to sleep. Breathing deeply dosen't help me so I'll take an anxiety pill which will help me sleep. When this occurs for other people here, do you get irritable, or "wound for sound"? I find that I get short with the people around me when I'm feeling this way and I feel real guilty because of it. I also have tremours in my upper body....which is the worst symptom for me. I get "jello legs" and feel so out of control of my bodies reactions. Some days are real bad which in turn causes me more worry and stress. About relaxation, I have a real difficult time doing this. I'm always needing to be moving. People tell me I push myself too hard and to just relax!!! I truly wish I could just block out all thoughts (like my husband) Yes, I am a worrier. I wonder if being a worrier triggers Panic Disoder in people? Any suggestions or advice? I'd love to hear from you. Take care everyone, for today is another day! Hugs, Lisa

Hi all. I love this discussion . YES! I know extactly what you are talking about! I FEEL my pulse in my hands and/or feet...in my neck in my tongue. It is crazy. Somehow, I feel relaxed when I feel this. It is better than the tingling I feel where I think it is MS symptoms (main focus of my panic). When I feel it, I just tell my self that I am hypersensitive (as two docs have said) and this is just the way I am. All is okay. I have to say that laying down for the night is the worst for me. I am always worried as to what I will wake up to the next day. I find that reading before bed everynight (regardless of how early you have to ge up the next day)helps. Good luck to all.

I, too, experience hearing and feeling my heart beat throughout my whole body. At night I found out that lying on my left side was the only thing that remotely made the feelings go away. But for hearing I have not come up with any solutions. I think I will try the headphone thing, and see if I can drown it out. Worth a try.

Hello! I posted a similar topic the other day. If you can actually hear your heart beat most of the time it is called Pulsatile Tinnitis. It can be caused by several things or it can just be normal for you. I also can feel my heart beat throughout my whole body because I have a fast heart rate. Look at it like you have a strong healthy heart and great hearing!! ;p

I also seem to hear and feel my pulse at night, and it seems to be VERY LOUD and VERY STRONG! I either put earphones in and listen to music or i think to myself "well, either my pulse will quiet(and slow) down or i'll have a heart attack, either way i'll get some much needed rest..... :)

I experience somewhat the same thing. I feel my heart is beating really hard all the time. I also feel my pulse in the lower part of my neck right where there is a soft spot and this bothers me. I think when you suffer from panic you are so internally focused on so hypervigilant that everything in your body is magnified. I also have electricity/vibrating feelings throughout my body all day and even when I try to sleep. I think it helps to know others experience this as well. But the bottom line is that we're afraid something is terribly wrong with us and that we're going die. For me, it is the fear of sudden death - something I would not have control over. In my mind, I feel it is only a short matter of time before I die and I'm desperately seeking a diagnosis by visiting many doctors. No diagnosis comes, everything is okay, but the symptoms remain. So the cycle goes on. I do try to challenge my thinking by changing the thought from "what if something is wrong with me" or "what if I die" to "what if absolutely nothing is wrong me", "what if I'm really okay", "what if I look back on this two years from now and think, boy I wasted some valuable days in that fear". It's hard but it helps. Well, I will stop rambling. God Bless Sherri

Sometimes you can feel your facial pulses at the side of your head or in front of your ear, if your head is resting a certain way against your arm, your hand, or something else. Is this what you mean?

HI rst First off welcome to the group!! I too have that same feeling when I'm bout to fall asleep alls i can hear is my pulse everywhere just like melinda said it's like its on the radio or t.v. It bothers me alot sometimes i feel like its gonna drive me insane but I try telling myself that everythings all right and its just part of the panic/anxiety thing. I to distract myself with the t.v or computer something that will take my mind off my pulse. Or need be i will take one of my xanax pills and that will just make me tired and i will finally fall asleep. Well good luck and i'm on yahoo to under shann244 if you ever want to chat somethime. shanna :p
